The Peale, Baltimore’s Community Museum, invites visual artists to apply for Built to Last: A Juried Exhibition Celebrating Baltimore’s Enduring Landmarks. This exhibition will feature newly created two-dimensional artworks inspired by ten historic and architecturally significant sites across the city.

Artist Benefits

  • Honorarium of up to $2,500

  • Free exhibition at The Peale (April–June 2026)

  • Eligibility for auction proceeds (60% artist / 40% The Peale)

  • Consideration for cash prizes

  • Inclusion in a digital exhibition

Eligibility

  • Open to artists aged 18+ in Baltimore and surrounding counties

  • Two-dimensional media only: painting, photography, illustration, collage, printmaking, and mixed media

  • Work must be original, created within the last 3 years, and not previously exhibited at The Peale

Key Dates

  • Call opens: August 1, 2025

  • Submission deadline: September 15, 2025

  • Notifications: October 11, 2025

  • Artwork delivery: February 15, 2026

  • Exhibition: April 17 – June 15, 2026

Submission Details

  • Apply via CaFÉ (CallForEntry.org)

  • Entry fee: $25 (fee waivers available)

  • Up to 3 works per artist

  • Each work must respond to at least one featured landmark

Submission requirements:

  • JPEG image (1200px minimum, max 5MB)

  • Artwork info (title, medium, dimensions, year)

  • Artist statement (100–200 words)

  • Short artist bio (PDF, 1 page max)

Jury

Submissions will be reviewed digitally by a panel of curators from leading Baltimore museums, including representatives from the Walters Art Museum, Maryland Center for History and Culture, Reginald F. Lewis Museum, Morgan State University, and the City of Baltimore.
