Executive Director's Letter: 3/10/20

Dear Friends,

By now, we are all feeling the impact of the COVID-19 virus. As you all may know, Governor Hogan on March 5th declared a State of Emergency in Maryland.

The Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance first and foremost exists to nurture and promote a vibrant, diverse, and sustainable arts and cultural community essential to the region’s economic success and quality of life.

As members of this Community, we want to be sure that each of us does our part to combat the spread of this virus and to take care of one another. The Center for Disease Control recommends that we all:

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Avoid touching our eyes, nose, and mouth.

Stay home when we are sick.

Cover our cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

Wash our hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

This is the time that we must prioritize kindness and civility toward all we meet. Greater Baltimore is blessed to be home to individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds. As a community we must not tolerate the promotion of xenophobic and or racist narratives surrounding this virus.

Please take the time to fully read up on more preventative methods, available on the CDC’s website.

Be well,

Jeannie
