The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts is now accepting entries for the 2020 Cumberland Valley Artists & Photographers Exhibitions.

Please note that the CVA and CVP are two separately juried exhibitions. However, deadlines and guidelines are the same for each. Please read the information below thoroughly before submitting your artwork.

Cash prizes for each exhibition: Best of Show, $1000; 2 Juror’s Awards, $500; 3 Juror’s Awards, $250

About the Cumberland Valley Artists Exhibition juror: Amy Eva Raehse, Goya Contemporary Executive Director (Baltimore, MD). Amy Eva Raehse is Executive Director and Partner at Goya Contemporary Gallery (established 1996) which represents emerging and mid-career artists in an international program focused on Post-War and Contemporary Art in both primary and secondary markets. She has curated over 100 exhibitions including solo shows of Joyce J. Scott, Lynda Benglis, Ann Hamilton, Sanford Biggers, Louise Bourgeois, Sonya Clark, Sam Gilliam, William Kentridge, among many others. She has placed artworks in major collections including MoMA, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Smithsonian Museums, Baltimore Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Chrysler Museum, Toledo Museum, National Museum of African American History and Culture, and Brooklyn Museum of Art. A member of the Association of Print Scholars and the International Fine Print Dealers Association, Raehse holds a MFA, BFA, and Certificate in Arts Management. Most recently, Raehse co-produced the largest retrospective to date for MacArthur Fellow Joyce J. Scott (represented by Goya Contemporary) with Grounds For Sculpture in New Jersey, curated by Lowery Stokes-Sims and Patterson Sims.

About the Cumberland Valley Photographers Exhibition juror: Lynn Silverman, Professor of Art at the Maryland Institute of Art, Baltimore, MD. Born in 1952, Lynn Silverman received her BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and her MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths’ College in London, England. She has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Australia, and the United States. In addition to publishing four books, her work may be found in public and private collections in Australia, Great Britain, and the US. In 2010, she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to the Czech Republic. She currently teaches at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore.

Who may enter: Any artist may enter regardless of place of residence.

How to enter: Each artist may submit up to four works. All entries are submitted online at Smarter Entry. All works must have been completed in the last two years. No artwork previously shown at the WCMFA will be accepted. Submitted JPEG, TIFF, or PNG images may not exceed 4 MB in size. Upload 1 image for each 2-dimensional work or up to 3 images for each 3-dimensional work. Use the “additional notes” field to enter descriptive information about medium (mixed media, paper, paint, found object, etc.). The juror will select works without knowing the identity of the artist.
