The Baltimore Office of Sustainability in partnership with Brick & Board and Details Deconstruction is seeking designs for products made from reclaimed building materials. Five winning designers will receive a $500 award and the opportunity for their product to be prototyped in a workshop at the Community ToolBank in April 2016.

We’re seeking talented local designers to help us and our partners dream up new ways of using the bricks, wood, and marble that are being reclaimed from Baltimore’s vacant housing stock. Download the instructions and entry form below to learn how to enter the competition. All submissions are due by Friday February 26, 2016.

This coming April, BOS will be hosting a series of hands-on workshops at the Community ToolBank, aimed at building greening capacity for city residents and neighborhood groups. We’re calling this project The Neighborhood Grow Center. Winners of the Deconstructed Design Competition will have the opportunity to see their product prototyped in one of the Neighborhood Grow Center workshops (and even lead the workshops themselves, if they like).

For questions or clarifications, contact Andy Cook at [email protected] or at 410-396-9508. The Deconstructed Design Competition and the Neighborhood Grow Center are projects of the Waste-To-Wealth Initiative.
