We are now accepting submissions on a rolling basis through the remainder of 2015. Please scroll down to read our three application requirements.
Any artist that identifies as a woman is welcome to apply; you do not need to be based in Boston or exclusively a fiber artist. Your work does not need to explicitly have a feminist agenda either; we will consider any fiber artwork submitted, regardless of content. If you are not a local artist, you will be required to cover the cost of shipping your artwork to and from the curators in Boston.
We are also accepting submissions from male artists for a zine that we will showcase at the exhibit, “Men Can Make Kickass Fiber Art Too.” The artwork we accept from these submissions will not be physically present at the show, but the artist will receive a two-page spread in the zine dedicated to their work and will be mentioned in articles and blog posts.
You may submit up to five works of art for consideration. Each artwork must address the medium of fiber- however you choose to interpret that theme is up to you.
In order to be considered you must complete the following three tasks. If you do not complete the following three tasks your submission will not be considered.
1. Fill out our online application form.
2. Email .jpg images of your artwork along with an image list indicating submission number, title, size, process, and year to [email protected]’s should be named with your last name and the submission number, for example “Smith1”
3. You must also submit the required $10 application fee. Immediately after you submit the application form you will be prompted with a link to pay the fee via PayPal. Please include “Fiber Art Exhibit Fee” in the memo. If we do not receive your fee along with your application, your submission will not be considered. Unfortunately, not all submissions can be accepted into this exhibition. However, even if you are not accepted to the show we may still share your artwork on Iris Nectar’s blog (which has a follower base of 20k), if we are interested in your work.
Timeline of submission process
Artists will be notified on a rolling basis regarding the acceptance of their work. We will be accepting submissions through at least the remainder of 2015.
If your artwork sells while it is on display at the exhibition, the curators will collect a 10% commission to offset gallery costs, as well as a 10% commission to the event’s designated charity, and sales tax.
Artists are responsible for assuming any liability while their artwork is in transit to the curators of Feminist Fiber Art, while they store it, or while they display it.
