Micro Studios @ The Motor House – Now Leasing

NOW LEASING

Micro Studios at The Motor House

Baltimore Arts Realty Corporation (BARCO) is currently leasing 8 micro studios available on the second floor of The Motor House (120 W North Ave.) starting in November 2015. This is a great opportunity to join a community of multidisciplinary artists and nonprofits in the Station North Arts & Entertainment District.

The micro studios are approximately 150 square feet each (10’ x 15’) with outlets and partial height dividing walls to allow for natural light and air circulation. Rent is $175-$250/month depending on the unit, and includes electricity, internet, and janitorial services in common areas. Unfortunately, these studios are not appropriate for ceramics, woodworking, welding, or any activities that are a fire risk. Artists are responsible for their own waste and hazardous materials handling, and will be expected to cover all associated costs.

The building is secure and code-compliant, with heat and air conditioning. Studio occupants will have shared access to restrooms and sinks. We expect this to be an inclusive and socially engaged environment, with potential opportunities for collaboration with third floor arts nonprofits, other resident artists, and the performance space on first floor.

1 year lease, with opportunity for 1 year renewal. 1 master leaseholder with options to sublease to additional studio mates is allowed and encouraged.

ABOUT THE MOTOR HOUSE

The Motor House is a three-story, 24,800 square foot historic building located at 120 West North Avenue between Howard Street and Maryland Avenue in the Station North Arts & Entertainment District. The redevelopment of the building is a project of the Baltimore Arts Realty Corporation (BARCO) a tax-exempt, non-profit real estate development corporation dedicated to providing affordable, safe and sustainable facilities for Baltimore’s community of artists, designers, curators, performers, and arts organizations.

Working with an advisory committee of artists, curators, performers, arts educators, and art organization leaders, BARCO is completing a full renovation of the building to showcase Baltimore’s vibrant and diverse urban arts scene; provide quality facilities for artists, performers, curators, and nonprofit arts organizations; and attract audiences and art patrons from across the city and around the region.

The Motor House’s first floor will be the principal public venue, with a black-box performance space, and a public gallery area in the main entrance. The second floor will house eight artist studios, and the third floor will be office space for arts-related non- profit organizations.
