It’s that time of year when I have the distinct pleasure of announcing the 2020 Baker Artist Awards finalists!
The following 30 artists were selected from nearly 800 individuals who created a Baker Artist Portfolio in 2019, the program’s 12th year. An anonymous jury of accomplished artists and professionals zeroed in on portfolios that exemplify excellence in three areas: mastery of craft, artistic excellence, and a unique vision. Drum roll please!

The 2020 Baker Artist Awardees will be announced in the spring, where one artist from each discipline will receive a $10,000 prize, and one of those six artists will receive an additional $30,000 prize. Finalists have been invited to participate in a variety of showcases that will take place throughout Baltimore in the coming months. Stay tuned for these, and an exhibition at the Baltimore Museum of Art this fall.
