Executive Director's Letter 12/20/22

From our world-class museums, theaters, and cultural centers, to our grassroots arts collectives and individual artists, Baltimore is teeming with a creativity and ingenuity that have defined the region for centuries. Area arts, culture organizations, and individual artists’ work inspire hope, heal trauma, strengthen education, and make a significant contribution to the regional economy. Baltimore needs arts and culture, and our cultural community needs the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance.

Thanks to the generosity of many, this year, GBCA was able to continue its support for hundreds of arts institutions and individual creatives who are still feeling the deep impact of the pandemic. Through its membership and programs, GBCA has promoted thousands of events on its Culture Fly events calendar; strengthened the cultural workforce by connecting job seekers to employers through its JobsPlus employment listing site; exposed hundreds of artists to international audiences and awarded $90,000 in funding through the Baker Artist Portfolios; as well as deepened its work providing equity and inclusion resources to the sector through Urban Arts Leadership.

It is your support that makes all of GBCA’s vital work possible. Thank you! It’s important that you know, the arts and culture sector is still struggling. We find ourselves in a new, unpredictable, and ever-changing reality. Audience behavior has changed, philanthropy has changed, people have changed, and these changes are happening in ways we are only just beginning to understand. Will you help us continue to provide core services and innovate new programs as we work through this challenging, yet exciting time?

A gift to GBCA is a gift to many. Through GBCA, you invest in the health and sustainability of arts and culture in our region. All it takes is a secure, online donation at www.baltimoreculture.org/donate, or if you like, you can mail a check to us at: 120 W. North Ave #305, Baltimore, MD 21201. Support for GBCA ensures that we can remain responsive to the communities we serve and usher in an era of groundbreaking programs that affirm our role as an integral arts service organization with far-reaching influence and impact. Thank you in advance for considering a new or renewed gift, and for all you do to encourage transformational creativity throughout Greater Baltimore.
