Executive Director's Letter February 11th 2020

February 11, 2020

Have we told you lately that we love you? You are the best Valentine ever!

The Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance is deeply grateful to you and all our friends for their wonderful support. Your continued commitment to fostering a vibrant, diverse, sustainable, and collaborative arts and culture sector is deeply appreciated.

Citizen Artist Baltimore (CAB) is back and hard at work for the community. GBCA, Maryland Citizens for the Arts, and Maryland Institute College of Art are working collaboratively with an ever growing planning committee to increase engagement in the electoral process—from the April Primary through the General Elections in November. To get involved in CAB, make sure you register to vote, lead or attend listening sessions, mark your calendar now for the CAB Mayoral Candidates Forum in March, vote, and promote the 2020 census. There are so many important things happening, it’s time to exercise your rights as a citizen. You have a voice and you count.

Citizen Artist is committed to ensuring that the arts and culture community of Baltimore is informed of and engaged with the 2020 Census. This vital decennial event determines representation in Congress, the Maryland General Assembly, and City Council, as well as the fair allocation of millions in federal funds. Every person counted in Maryland equals $1,821 in federal funding to your community every year ($18,210 over ten years). Do you work in development in the arts and culture sector? GBCA regularly hosts Development Roundtables to gather fundraising professionals to discuss and learn about critical topics. For our session next Wednesday, we've partnered with the Association of Fundraising Professionals to host AJ Protin, the COO of Project Own at St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center, to explore how databases can be best used for fundraising. RSVP here.

Happy Tuesday,

P.S. If you want to send a little love our way this Valentines Day, you can make a gift here to ensure the future for GBCA’s work.
