Executive Director’s Letter May 21, 2019

It’s almost Memorial Day weekend and the start of summer. Break out your white shoes and hand fans, mother nature and climate change are sending heat and humidity our way. What better way to chill out between barbeques this weekend than to visit a museum, theatre, library, or cultural event? How do you find out what’s hot? CultureFly!

If you haven’t started using GBCA’s calendar, now is the time. You can search by location, type of event, and much more. Nearly 100,000 users can’t be wrong. It’s free, easy, and at your fingertips from your computer, phone, or tablet. Are you looking for great deals? You should also check out CultureFlyer, GBCA’s weekly newsletter featuring free and discounted tickets. Once you sign up, CultureFlyer will arrive in your inbox every Thursday, just in time to make plans for the weekend. Whether you’re going on a date, hanging out with friends, or looking for something the whole family can enjoy, it’s the only place that covers the entire region’s cultural happenings.

And, if you need to promote an event, that’s also simple and free. Don’t miss out on connecting with the thousands of visitors we reach every year. You can post all types of performances, festivals, exhibitions, parades, installations, and more. You can also sign up to make a donation or become a member. That way you can do your part in supporting this spectacular (and did I say FREE?) service.

Speaking of events, thank you again to everyone who joined GBCA for ArtBrew, employee appreciation event. Even if you weren’t able to join us, you’ll love seeing photos of all the fun and you’ll want to start planning for next year. Congratulations again to all the winners of the first-ever Baltimore Excellence in the Arts (BEA) Awards. We couldn’t do it without you.

Have a great week,

Jeannie
