Executive Director’s Letter April 16, 2019

It’s ArtBrew and it is going to be BIG!

On Monday, April 29, GBCA is hosting the first ever evening of food, drinks, and music to honor the hardworking and often underappreciated staff members that make our region’s arts scene hum. Space is limited, so make sure you and your staff RSVP as soon as possible! You can purchase your own tickets ($10 each) or buy a block for your staff by following this link.

As a special bonus, GBCA member organizations can nominate one exceptional full-time staff member to receive the “Baltimore Excellence in Arts” Award, affectionately known as the B.E.A. We’ll show them some extra love with recognition on stage and in the printed program. We hope that you use this party as an opportunity to recognize your entire remarkable staff, one exceptional employee who goes above and beyond, and to celebrate all of our arts and culture treasures. GBCA members, please send your selection by April 22nd by filling out this quick form with information about your nominee. Questions? Contact Rebekah Highfield at [email protected]. We can’t wait to see you there!

In the meantime, I hope you will join us for the next 3rd Friday Equity Conversation: Statues of Limitations from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, this Friday April 19 at GBCA in the Motor House.

Also, congratulations to GBCA Board members, Sheri Parks (President), and Stacie Tobin for being honored among the Daily Record’s 2019 Maryland’s Top 100 Women! We are pleased and proud that these powerhouse women are part of GBCA’s leadership.

I hope to see you soon,

Jeannie

P.S. Our hearts go out to the French as they mourn the grave damage by fire to Notre Dame. For hundreds of years, this cathedral has been a part of their history and identity. I am heartened to learn of their intention to rebuild, unlike in the cases of so many important cultural and religious structures that have been intentionally destroyed during the recent years of war in the Middle East. Vive la France-Impossible n’est pas français.
