Exhibition Dates: September 20 – November 1, 2018
As part of its Art + Community series, the Art Connection in the Capital Region (ACCR) will organize an art exhibition and placement project in partnership with Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax (UUCF).
We invite artists to participate in this event by submitting artwork for consideration, which at the close of the exhibition, will be donated to area nonprofits that focus on improving underserved communities through their missions.
• Original 2-D and 3-D media, with the exception of video and installation, will be considered.
• Wall hung artwork must not exceed 40” x 60” in height or width.
• 3-D wall hanging work is acceptable if it falls within all other guidelines.
• Work must be delivered framed or mounted in a professional manner and have all necessary hardware attached for installation. Plexiglass is preferred, but glass is acceptable.
• Ensure your artwork if shipping.
Where Will the Donated Artwork be Displayed?
The artwork will be displayed in secure public areas of the agencies where
its presence will enrich the lives of those who work in, and are served
by, these organizations. Sites will be carefully selected and screened by ACCR. The number of organizations receiving artwork will be determined by the number of pieces donated. A plaque with information about the artist, artwork, and the project will be displayed with the donated artwork.
When Will the Donated Artwork Go On Display?
The exhibition will be on view at UUCF from September 20 through November 1, 2018. A public reception is scheduled for Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Once the artwork is installed, representatives from participating nonprofits will have an opportunity to tour the exhibition and select artwork
for their agencies. At the conclusion of the exhibition, the artwork will be moved to the agencies where it will remain on permanent display.
How Do I Submit Artwork?
This is a juried exhibition, however, artwork placements cannot be guaranteed. If work is not placed during the exhibition, we request that work remains in the possession of ACCR for future placements. Arrangements to have work returned to the artist if
not placed can also be made at the artist’s request.
To be considered for participation, you must complete the Artwork Submission Form. Each artist is invited to upload up to four images for consideration. Up to two works of art may be selected for inclusion unless the artist specifies otherwise.
Submissions must be received no later than September 7, 2018.
If Selected, When Should Work Be Delivered?
Artwork must be received at UUCF (2709 Hunter Mill Road, Oakton,
VA 22124) on the following dates: September 14 from 4-8:30pm or September 15 from 9am-noon. Arrangements to have work shipped can also be made.
