Equity and Inclusion training has risen to the rank of the latest and most nouveau. As those who are mindful embrace social justice as a way forward, organizations within the arts sector are speaking up to prove that they want to be just and that they care about a balanced work force. Art, artists, and art forms have historically activated dialogue and fueled action in ways that are all at once courageous, risk-taking, unbiased, informed, pivotal, and so much more. Awareness, dialogue, and consideration are a starting point.
The Urban Arts Leadership is GBCA’s major effort surrounding equitable dialogue, as well as action surrounding inclusion. Applications are now open for the UALP Cohort 2019.
A perspective applicant:
● Is a resident of Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Carroll County, Harford County, or Howard County at the time of application and throughout the duration of the program
● Is a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident
● Is a current graduating college senior, recent college graduate (within five years), or validated equivalent there of
● Has demonstrated and assumed a leadership role in an arts-related endeavor
● Has a demonstrated affinity to the arts sector
● Is interested in increasing the participation of groups that have been historically underrepresented, particularly those of color, in the management of cultural and artistic organizations
● Can commit to the entire ten-month fellowship timeline of the Urban Arts Leadership
● Can commit to at least 20 hours a week (including weekend meetings) for the duration of the program
