Happy Thanksgiving!

In this week of Thanksgiving, I am grateful to live in a country that values free expression, encourages intellectual exploration, learns from the past, and finds strength in our differences. Even in times when these principles appear to be challenged, the fact that they are core to our identity gives hope and a reminds us they are worth fighting for.

GBCA is grateful for our more than 400 members and many financial supporters. Together, we are committed to fostering the health and success of the cultural sector. I hope you will consider GBCA in your plans for year-end giving and to help GBCA continue its important work.

Among GBCA’s critical work is the Urban Arts Leadership Program supporting promising young leaders who are committed to creating more equity and inclusion in the cultural workplace. After months of training, we are pleased that each Fellow will be embedded within an arts organization where they will be supported, trained, and mentored as they lead projects ranging from event programming to marketing and outreach strategies, to community engagement initiatives.

The following Host Organizations have been selected for the 20116/17 UALP program year:
• Baltimore Arts Realty Corporation (BARCO)
• Baltimore Clayworks
• Baltimore Dance Crew Project
• Baltimore Office of Promotion and The Arts (BOPA)
• Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, University of Maryland
• Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance
• Single Carrot Theater
• The Walters Art Museum
• Young Audiences of Maryland/ Arts for Learning

We look forward to great things from the Fellows!

Happy Thanksgiving,
Jeannie
