TOWN OF CHESTERTOWN
CALL TO ARTISTS
WILMER PARK CHILDREN’S PLAYSCAPE
The Town of Chestertown will receive sealed concept drawings and bids until 12:00 noon on Friday,
December 12, 2014 for a children’s playscape at Wilmer Park, which is located on the Chestertown
waterfront. The playscape is the inaugural public art project identified in the recently completed
Chestertown Public Arts Master Plan, which focused on three themes that will inform the design for
the playscape: art, environment, and history. The Public Arts Master Plan and bid documents can be
viewed at the Town of Chestertown website, www.chestertown.com.
Artists will develop and submit a design for a new and original permanent work of art made
specifically for the site. The artist or artist team must reside in the United States, provide evidence of
a minimum five years of public art and/or children’s playscape experience with a minimum of three
successfully completed projects.
Funding for the project is provided by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts Our Town
program and the Town of Chestertown, in partnership with RiverArts. Sealed bids should be
addressed to the Town of Chestertown, 118 N. Cross Street, Chestertown, MD 21620 and be marked
“WILMER PARK CHILDREN’S PLAYSCAPE.” Electronic submissions will not be accepted. The Town of
Chestertown is an equal opportunity employer and reserves the right to accept or reject any and all
bids.
