Single Carrot Theatre Seeks Director for Peter Pan Adaptation

Single Carrot Theatre seeks qualified, Queer Identifying Director Of Color for upcoming project. Single Carrot Theatre and playwright Joshua Conkel are creating an adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s Novel, Peter Pan, in conjunction with Baltimore’s LGBTQ+ residents and service organizations.

Ideal candidate has directing experience at professional level and experience with new work development or community based theatre making. Pertinent Dates below.

About Peter Pan

Working in collaboration with Baltimore’s LGBTQ+ residents and service organizations, SCT will create a new adaptation of the familiar favorite that includes contemporary conversations on gender, sexuality, and performative identity. Neverland is transformed from a distant fantasy to a modern safe-haven for those who have been rejected and devalued, a stronghold against normalcy and a place where Peter and his Lost Boys can finally be themselves.

Timeline

October 15-25, 2017-Single Carrot Theatre will host story sharing workshops with service organizations, community members, and playwright.

Winter 2017/2018- Director will give feedback on 2 drafts of script.

February 2018- Director will participate in readings of adaptation with service organizations and community members.

March 2018- Director will lead 2 week development workshop of adaptation.

March 12, 2018- Rehearsals begin.

April 27, 2018- Opening Performance of Peter Pan

May 20, 2018- Closing Performance of Peter Pan

SCT’s general rehearsal schedule is as follows:

Mondays-Thursdays 7pm-10:30pm, Sundays 1pm-5:30pm.

SCT’s performance schedule is as follows:

Thursday-Saturday 8:00pm, Sunday 3:00pm.
