The Chesapeake Arts Center’s Education Assistant is often the first point of contact between the Education Department and customers, and must uphold high standards of excellence in customer service and support of CAC’s programs and services. The Education Assistant will serve as the primary assistant for the after-school programs operated out of the Chesapeake Arts Center. S/he will be responsible for the operations of the program which include developing, implementing, and over-seeing the after-school activities of the program with Instructors at both on-site and off- site locations. S/he will also be responsible for evening supervision of the building, registrations for classes and assisting the Education Director.

Minimum 3 year experience in arts education program management
Experience collaborating effectively with public schools and community-based organizations to improve the outcomes of at-risk students in an after-school setting
Significant experience with assets and needs analysis, community organizing, problem-solving, networking and developing relationships with private and public partners, program coordination, and 3 years’ experience collaborating effectively with public schools and community based organizations to improve the outcomes of at-risk students in an after school setting
Bilingual – Spanish/English is preferred
Commitment to ongoing learning and development, proven use of supervision to improve practice
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to approach challenges in a supportive and creative manner
Experience in programming design and recruitment and outreach strategies
Eager to work in a fast-paced, arts and education-focused environment
Strong computer skills: knowledge of Google Drive and other standard business technology is required.

Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously and meet deadlines on a consistent schedule
Knowledge of Showare Ticketing site
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Work in an office environment.
Position requires travel from the main site to the program site located in Anne Arundel County with reliable transportation
Frequently sitting and standing for long periods of time
May require occasional standing, cleaning, organizing, walking, lifting, and bending
Flexible schedule and willingness to work school hours as well as some weekends/evenings
Duties and Responsibilities:
Help manage student registrations, rosters, and payment information through Showare software system
Help maintain private music studio rosters, schedules, invoices, and payments
Create/collect class evaluations and attendance sheets
Coordinate after-school programs, including recruitment; communication with schools, instructors, and families; on-site support to ensure smooth operations and provide instructor assistance; and Staff the CAC office on Saturdays when classes are in session
Manage and implement a program schedule of activities in accordance with specifications and funding In coordination with the Education Director
Help and monitor homework/ snack time before after-school program starts
Build and maintain positive relationships with schools, youth, and parents/caregivers.
Participate in meetings with the Artistic Director, Teaching Artists, and the Education Director
Coordinate the recruitment of participants, follow up with parents on participant performance and ensure contractual requirements for attendance are being met.
Accountable to report all program incidents up the chain of command
Coordinate with the Principals and Teachers about the enrollment of students, programs and schedule
Enrollment for CAC programs and events using Showare ticketing system
Assist art instructors that teach evening classes
Monitor and secure the safety of the students, parents and instructors in the evening
Help /Run plan the outreach program showcase
Create attendance sheet for Instructors
Sign students in/out of the after-school program each week
Manage Interns after-school programs and Summer Camps
Assist the Education Director with the Summer Camp Programs
Help decorate and prepare with the Education Director the Summer Camp Programs
Create/Send Surveys for the after-school programs
Provide administrative support including answering phones, managing daily business data, and confirming schedules with students and teachers.
Help measure students for dance recital costumes
Help work the dance recital programs
Provide marketing support by participating in school and community events as a CAC representative
Exhibit professional and approachable demeanor; positively represent CAC in all job responsibilities
Help with reports to track attendance of students for the Education Director and Marketing Specialist
Help install artwork in the Gallery for upcoming shows
