Immediate openings. Please apply by submitting resume to [email protected]

POSITION:

Chesapeake Shakespeare Company (CSC) theater in downtown Baltimore seeks bartenders for part-time, hourly positions with tips. Bartenders report to the Audience Services Manager and are valued members of our Marketing Department team. The theater has two bars that sell beverages, snacks, and merchandise. The bars are in operation simultaneously, before, during, and sometimes after performances and special events. On Saturday nights, and for special events, the bar may be open until 1am. Bartenders are representatives of the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company and as such must provide the best in customer service to our patrons. Bartenders for CSC are punctual, courteous, organized, trustworthy, and must work well under pressure with a smile.

JOB DUTIES:

On each assigned shift, bartenders prep the bars for the event or performance by setting up to sell soda, snacks, coffee, alcoholic drinks and merchandise. Before doors open, the bartender must make coffee, stock all fridges and snack baskets from the supply, and set out CSC merchandise for sale. During their shift, bartenders are responsible for ensuring that the bar, the back bar, and supply areas are clean and uncluttered.

When the public arrives, bartenders provide courteous and efficient customer service. They are expected to suggest the day’s specials; quickly and accurately serve patrons’ orders to keep the lines moving; accurately ring up patrons’ credit card and cash sales; and follow the theater’s cash-management policies. During assigned shifts, the bartenders are supervised by the House Manager.

The bartenders must ensure that anyone requesting an alcoholic beverage is 21 years of age or older by asking for the proper identification, by law and in compliance with the theater’s Code of Conduct.

At the end of each shift, bartenders clear the counters and bar as specified for that shift; notify the Audience Services Manager of any product or supplies that are running low or need replacing; and secure the inventory.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Previous retail and/or bartending experience preferred but not required.

TiPS certification is a plus but not required.

Experience with handling cash and cash registers is preferred, experience with Square is a plus.

Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds (to move bar stock) and stand for long periods of time.

Must be available for a flexible schedule: Assigned work shifts are mostly evenings and weekends, and on Saturdays may extend to 1am.
