POSITION OVERVIEW
The Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance (GBCA) nurtures and promotes a vibrant, diverse, and sustainable arts and cultural community, essential to the region’s quality of life. GBCA supports the needs of more than 400 members from the Baltimore region (Baltimore City and the five surrounding counties) including arts, culture, history, and heritage organizations, as well as individual artists. GBCA requires a strong infrastructure to steward its members and to develop new programs and initiatives.
GBCA’s Part-time Communications Associate will play an important role in the growth and continued success of the organization. He or she will also work closely with all GBCA staff to design and implement strategies to raise public awareness of the organization and to promote and increase participation in GBCA programs, events, and services.
Communications efforts will also serve to support, recruit, and retain donors and organizational and individual members. Responsibilities include managing GBCA’s external communications, web and social media presence, as well as its cultural events calendar and half-priced ticket program.
The position reports to the Executive Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Culture Fly
Oversee maintenance and daily operation of Culture Fly website
Daily event approval and editing
Cross-reference and update events with member accounts
Provide Technical Assistance to Member Organizations and General Public
Collect and review analytics data
GBCA Website
Oversee maintenance and daily operation of GBCA Website
Work with the web developer for improvements and new features/ functions
Add opportunities to the blog section of the website
Provide Technical Assistance to Member Organizations and General Public
Collect and review analytics data
Email Marketing
Weekly production of GBCA Newsletter
Weekly production of Culture Flyer email
Weekly production of Free member Ticket email
Produce event invitation emails and reminders as necessary
Graphic Design
Graphic Design of general programmatic related online and print materials (postcards, flyers, mailings, event invitations, business cards, programs letterhead, etc.)
Social Media
Regular postings to social media to increase engagement, likes, followers, etc.
Maintain and update GBCA’s target audiences
Boost and promote worthy content
Collect and review analytics data
Limelight
Strategize content and manage coverage requests
Manage Limelight content writers
Edit and upload blog content to the GBCA website, emails, and Social Media Platforms
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Strong computer skills, specifically MS Office products and Adobe Photoshop, in a Mac environment
• Familiarity with current web technology and experience with social media. Knowledge of Drupal, Mailchimp, Google Drive, Facebook and Twitter a plus
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Ability to thrive and work effectively as part of a small team in a fast-paced and rapidly growing organization
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a broad range of individuals from GBCA’s stakeholder base
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, the ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects, anticipate needs, meet deadlines, problem-solve and multi-task
• Appreciation for the role and impact of arts and culture in the region
• General knowledge of the Baltimore region’s cultural community
