Enoch Pratt Free Library seeks Digital Equity Strategist

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Technology Officer, the Digital Equity Strategist will assist the Enoch Pratt Free Library in assessing and understanding the needs of Baltimore City and the role that the Pratt Library can play in the area of digital equity. A major focus of the position will be to assist with creating community responsive core competencies that staff need to have to assist the community with their technology needs, digital health, and other community issues of digital equity. Additionally, the position will be responsible for researching the Wash and Learn initiative and potentially assisting with the implementation of the program in Baltimore City. The strategist will also help with reviewing policies and programs to ensure there is a consistent focus internally on digital equity.

Major Job Duties

Determining the core competencies needed by front line neighborhood staff to assist the community with their technology needs, digital health, and other community issues of digital equity. These should be community responsive as opposed to industry focused.

Investigating the Wash and Learn initiative started by Libraries Without Borders.

Strengthening partnership with local agencies and community organizations including Baltimore City’s IT Department.

Researching comprehensive outreach strategies around providing broadband to better serve neighborhoods (mesh networks, mobile hotspots, lending hotspots, etc.).

Researching and developing digital equity strategies that will be incorporated into the five year strategic plan and implemented during the fellowship year and beyond.

Reviewing policies and suggesting programs to ensure a digital equity focus.
