EUBIE BLAKE NATIONAL JAZZ INSTITUTE AND CULTURAL CENTER
PRESS RELEASE
German Artist Dominic Martin Gilberto Marín Showcases Works during American Solo Exhibition Premiere
BALTIMORE – The Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute and Cultural Center embraces international artist Dominic Martin Gilberto Marín with his premiere American Solo Exhibition titled “Moderne Wave.” The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, is featured at the Eubie Blake Cultural Center at 847 North Howard Street in Baltimore from Friday, September 5th to Saturday, October 4th, 2014; with an opening reception on September 5th from 7 to 9 p.m.
The emerging artisan from Germany is a multi-talented visual artist, combining both his European flair and the experiences he has made while living in the United States. Marín’s artistic influence conform a duality torn between his surroundings and an interior force that governs his inner self.
Marín’s primary mode of living has always been focused on his psyche, taking things in through intuition. His secondary mode is external, where he deals with things according to how he feels about them, or how they fit into his personal value system. His work is entirely based on spontaneity and intuition, which he trusts above all else. His art makes him seem very protective of his inner self, sharing only what he chooses to share, and when he wants to share it.
Marín’s upcoming first American Solo Exhibition, Moderne Wave, explores abstract and ambiguous themes, that have been evolving since the beginning of Modern Art, as much as it explores what Modern Art has become since it’s conception. Whether or not, that means creating something that is groundbreaking or creating things that offer a new perspective. Continuously, trying to re-define and re-shape what Modern Art could be, Marín looks for various approaches on how to manipulate modern technology and create something exciting.
The Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute and Cultural Center is open Wednesday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday by appointment only.
