Children’s Chorus of Maryland’s to Hold Auditions on June 20th for its 2017-2018 Season

Children Who Love to Sing Are Invited To Sign Up!

Towson, MD., June 8th, 2017 – Celebrating 41 years as one of the region’s most respected children’s choruses, Children’s Chorus of Maryland & School of Music (CCM) will hold auditions for children ages 5 ½ to 12 on June 3rd at its school near downtown Towson. Children who love to sing are encouraged to become a part of this exceptional music education and choral performance program. Previous singing experience is not necessary and interested families are asked to sign up online at www.ccmsings.org for an audition time. Parents who would like more information on our program can contact the office at 410 494-1480 for a personal tour this summer.

Children will have the opportunity to try out in a relaxed, interactive manner with an experienced teacher. Although no preparation is necessary, children will be asked to sing a song of their choice. Parents are encouraged to sit in on this process which allows teachers to evaluate each child’s readiness to participate in one of three choirs. Children are accepted based on age, ability, maturity and space available in each choir.

Under the direction of Artistic Director Susan Bialek, Children’s Chorus of Maryland features highly qualified teachers, small classes and in-depth vocal enrichment to provide children with a complete musical education and choral experience. Featuring children from 5 ½ to 16, choirs perform locally during the academic year at well-known regional and national venues, and have earned spots in a variety of children’s choral festivals in the US and abroad.

Classes and rehearsals are offered twice weekly from September to May at CCM’s Towson facility and performances are held each semester. The Chorus’s repertoire is culturally diverse and represents a range of periods and styles. CCM welcomes children who attend public, private and parochial schools as well as those who are homeschooled. Merit and need-based scholarships are available.

Interested families can sign-up online at ccmsings.org. For additional information call 410-494-1480.
