Enjoy Sherlock Holmes? Join with other like-minded people and celebrate the 46th anniversary of the Annual Saturday with Sherlock Holmes at the Pratt Library Central Library (400 Cathedral Street, Baltimore, MD 21201), Wheeler Auditorium. The game is afoot, once again, as seven Sherlockians will give dynamic presentations on various aspects of the Sherlock Holmes stories. The theme is Our Favorite Parts of the Canon. As always, the program is free! There will be coffee and bagels from 10:30 – 11:30 in the corridor adjacent to the auditorium.

Amy Sherald: American Sublime traces the evolution of the artist, a defining voice of her generation who transformed American portraiture.

The exhibition tells the story of Sherald’s vision and practice through approximately 40 paintings created from 2007 to the present—from her early, rarely seen works to her iconic, larger-than-life portraits of Black Americans in everyday moments.

Back by popular demand, the internationally acclaimed Spanish Brass returns with their electrifying Top Secret program – a thrilling blend of spy themes and flamenco flair! This award-winning quintet delivers covert classics from James Bond, Mission Impossible, and The Pink Panther with virtuosic skill and show-stopping presence.
In the second half, they unleash a global soundscape of fiery Spanish dances by de Falla, sultry tangos by Piazzolla, and smooth bossa nova by Jobim. True to their espionage theme, some selections remain classified until showtime.

Anthropologist Linda Rabben surveys the rich tradition and social context of stained-glass decoration in Baltimore’s built environment, from 1850 to the present. A slide show illustrates a few of the hundreds of panels she photographed during three years of research in libraries, museums, homes, houses of worship, public buildings and the streets of Baltimore City and surrounding counties.
Anthropologist Linda Rabben surveys the rich tradition and social context of stained-glass decoration in Baltimore’s built environment, from 1850 to the present. A slide show illustrates a few of the hundreds of panels she photographed during three years of research in libraries, museums, homes, houses of worship, public buildings and the streets of Baltimore City and surrounding counties.

MCHC Press proudly presents a new publication, When Claiborne Bridged the Chesapeake: The Rise and Fall of the Ferry Era, with Marty Bollinger, author and historian. Bollinger explores the trials and triumphs of establishing and maintaining ferries as an economically viable mode of transportation between Maryland’s Western and Eastern Shores during the 19th and early-20th centuries from Claiborne, including the politics of the day that inspired the desire to connect Baltimore to the Eastern Shore.
