This event will be both a walking tour of the urban food forest at Heckel Farm as well as a two-part Circus Farm workshop. The classes will feature farm lessons focused on helping you grow food where you live. Each week's topic is listed below. Every class will wrap up with a circusy fun hula hoop and juggling lesson and dance session on the farm. Come learn & play!

Alison Saar was born in Los Angeles, California. She studied art and art history at Scripps College and received an MFA from the Otis Art Institute. Saar received the United States Artist Fellowship in 2012 and has also been awarded the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship and two NEA Fellowships and has exhibited at many galleries and museums, including The Contemporary , the Hirshhorn Museum and Watts Towers Arts Center. Her art is represented in the collections of the Whitney Museum , Baltimore Museum of Art, MoMA, and the Met.

CaliBurger presents its second social gaming tournament, which will feature an original course on the exciting new mobile game, GemJump! This competition, titled Ice Spire – Cash Climb, will showcase new avatars in a winter-themed environment. The tournament will run on CaliBurger’s FunWall social gaming platform, which allows players to participate in multiplayer tournaments along with other gamers from any participating CaliBurger location.

Beginning students learn the traditional techniques of cloisonne, champleve, and plique-a-jour. Students are able to apply enamels to both jewelry and sculptural objects, using their own designs in both traditional and experimental ways. The emphasis throughout this course is on creative thinking, design and mastery of technical skills. No experience necessary.
$475 (includes a $50 materials fee)

This class will provide an overview of various methods of working with materials like leather, acrylic sheet, latex and rubber sheet, wood veneer, found objects, paper and fabric. Methods include heat forming, sewing, pattern making, tooling, wet forming, lamination, fabrication techniques, and cold connections. No experience necessary.
$450 (includes a $25 materials fee)

Rachel Winder and Mike Gary
Saxophonist Rachel Winder and Guitarist Mike Gary are joined by Peabody students and alumni and friends -- a different collection of artists with each performance!!
Rachel Winder, a native of Baltimore, is an up and coming saxophonist, flautist and vocalist in multiple genres of music. She studied saxophone at the Baltimore School for the Arts and the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. She regularly performs with the New world Outreach Jazz Orchestra as lead alto and is dedicated to the education of young people and musicians.

Flutist David LaVorgna and pianist Jeffrey Chappell will perform works by Paul Hindemith, Joseph Schwantner, Steven Harlos, and Jeffrey Chappell.
Baltimore Rising is an exhibition bringing together a broad survey of works by 15 artists — with significant ties to Baltimore — who address the social, economic, political and racial issues that propelled the city to the national spotlight in 2015.
Artists: Derrick Adams, Lauren Adams, Devin Allen, Sonya Clark, J.M. Giordano, Logan Hicks, Jeffrey Kent, Nate Larson, Nether, Olivia Robinson, Paul Rucker, Joyce J. Scott, Tony Shore, Shinique Smith and Susan Waters-Eller.

In this four-week class students will learn about mourning jewelry through the ages: meaning, imagery, and techniques relevant to the genre. Students will finish the class by creating a piece in memoriam to a person or topic of their choosing. Techniques covered include etching, basic enamelling, hair work, painting on glass, and bezel setting.
Prerequisite: Intro to Metals + Jewelry or equivalent
