Seeking visual art & short films for our 8th annual Overlea ArtsFest Juried Show & Festival, held at Holt Park & Center for the Arts in Baltimore on August 11th, 12th and 13th.
~ No submission fees ~ Cash prizes for winners
All local artists 16 yrs and older who live, work or go to school in Maryland are eligible to submit for visual art. All local, national and international filmmakers 16 yrs and older are eligible to submit for short films.
EcoHope must exist alongside EcoDespair, but the arts can offer a path for renewal through visual and responsive engagement. The artist -activists in this exhibition are intercessors and illuminators--whether the work is conceptual, allegorical or metaphorical, or representational and specific, it examines and addresses systemic environmental failure through remediation, confrontation, education, personal lived actions of the artist, or simply by drawing attention and asking the viewer to respond.Curated by J. The Arts Council's annual Resident Visual Artists Exhibit showcases artists with studios at the Center for the Arts, including recent work by James Adkins, Sara Engel, Myungsook Ryu Kim, 2022-23 Emerging Studio Artist Lauren R. Lyde, Diana Marta, Joyce J. Ritter, Lisa Scarbath, Jereme Scott, Asma Ahmed Shikoh, Andrei Trach, Jamie Travers, Mary Jo Tydlacka, and David Zuccarini.
Exhibit dates: April 14 - May 27, 2023. Reception: April 21, 6-8pm. Gallery hours: Mon-Fri 10am-8pm, Sat 10am-4pm, Sun 12-4pm.
A multi-media exhibit exploring the use of color, texture and form, featuring glass objects by Michele Rubin of Washington, DC; abstract watercolors by Shanti Conlan of Houston, TX; and stoneware by Vidya Vijayasekharan.

Since its emergence in the Bronx in the 1970s, hip hop has grown into a global phenomenon, driving innovations in music, fashion, technology, and visual and performing arts.
Evergreen’s new major exhibition, A History of Houseplants, explores the forces that sparked the Victorian obsession with houseplants, reveals how the trend manifested at Evergreen and in Baltimore, and examines how today’s houseplant enthusiasts both recall and differ from the Victorians of 150 years ago.
On view October 1, 2022-June 4, 2023. Gallery open Tuesday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-4p.m. Closed Mondays, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.
Admission is FREE and no advance registration is necessary.
Friday nights from May through August, the museum will extend its hours to 7pm. From 4pm-7pm admission will be $12!
The Albin O. Kuhn Library Gallery presents Ola Belle Reed: I’ve Endured, an exhibition that explores the life and work of nationally recognized bluegrass musician Ola Belle Reed, contextualizing her achievements within a history of migration from rural Appalachia north in the twentieth century.

Join us at Gallery 1448 for the opening reception of Muse and Metaphor.
Throughout history, artists have relied on muses to inspire and inform their visual creativity. This show features six photographers who explore the idea of muse and metaphor in their work. Curated by Molly Roberts, this show is deeply rooted in Baltimore.
Featured artists are Schaun Champion, Frank Hallam Day, E. Brady Robinson, Paula Gately Tillman, M. Holden Warren, and Elena Volkova.
The Howard County Arts Council's annual plein air paint-out is fun for artists and spectators alike! Over the course of the weekend, juried artists will set up their easels throughout Ellicott City’s historic district to capture the town’s picturesque charms as they vie for nearly $10,000 in juror awards. Community artists are invited to join the fun as part of Open Paint, which takes place concurrently. The event culminates in an exhibit of the juried artists' work at the Howard County Center for the Arts.

POSEN x POSEN x POSEN brings together the artistic endeavors of the Posen family—Stephen Posen, Alexandra Posen, and Zac Posen—and explores the remarkable contributions they have made to the realms of art and fashion. Stephen Posen, as an abstract painter, channels his creativity onto canvas, while Alexandra Posen expresses her artistic vision through sculptural forms. Zac Posen, on the other hand, has left an indelible mark on the fashion industry with his distinctive designs.
Catalyst Contemporary and the Baltimore chapter of the American Institute of Architects partner to present sculpture by Alberto Cavalieri at the Center for Architecture and Design located at One Charles Center. The works on display come from Cavalieri's series of twisting and elegant “Knots.” In solid cast iron and fabricated, modular aluminum these knot sculptures take viewers on a journey through the beautiful potential of Cavalieri's elegant forms and into the context of the much larger-scaled possibilities of architecture.

This fun and inclusive FREE three-day outdoor festival features a variety of live music and arts performances, Invitational Fine Arts and Crafts Show with more than 50 artists, a Juneteenth celebration and cookout hosted by The 3rd, interactive entertainment for all ages, food trucks, and a wine and beer garden sponsored by the Collective Offshore.

Stepping into Baltimore-based cartoonist Barbara Dale’s studio, Peale chief curator Jeffrey Kent was truly awed by the experience as he witnessed Barbara's effortless utilization of various mediums in her creative practice, including pastel chalk, lithographs, ceramics, paint, pencil, ink, etc.
