Annapolis-based act Kings of Crownsville are a roots Rock band with a New Orleans flavor. The brainchild of New Orleans-raised guitarist/singer/songwriterSteve Johnson, the Kings play a rollicking, entertaining set that stirs Americana, Blues, and Jazz into the mix.
Their signature horn section transports listeners to the streets of the Big Easy, while they also add precise three- and four-part harmonies to their musical gumbo. Think Louis Armstrong meets Steely Dan.

Formed in 1996, the Chesapeake Brass Band is comprised of amateur and professional musicians from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware. The band performs a varied repertoire of contemporary and traditional brass band music throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Walk just a few blocks east from Baltimore's Sunday Farmers Market and you enter one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city – historic Jonestown. On this tour of often overlooked landmarks, you'll see the city’s oldest religious building (Friends Quaker Meeting House) and the third oldest synagogue in the country (Lloyd Street Synagogue), learn about cast iron buildings and the longest-lived signer of the Declaration of Independence, and get inside the famed Phoenix Shot Tower – the tallest structure in the United States until 1846.
Get your jazz exercise on by taking a Street Jazz dance workshop with dance instructor Bria Nicole Murphy. This beginner’s class includes warm up, toning exercises and learning choreography to popular urban pop music. Ms. Murphy’s dance training has included work with Alvin Ailey American Dance and Dance Theatre of Harlem Summer Intensive.

The Perseids is one of the best meteor showers to experience, producing up to 60 meteors per hour at its peak! It is produced by comet Swift-Tuttle, which was discovered in 1862. The Perseids are famous for producing a large number of bright, luminous meteors. The shower runs annually from July 17 to August 24. It peaks this year on the night of August 12 and the morning of August 13. The thin crescent moon will set early in the evening leaving dark skies for what should be an excellent show. Best viewing will be from a dark location after midnight.

Day 1: Wednesday, August 15
11am-12pm: Tours and talks on the restoration and recreation of the Peale’s historic gas lights inside the Peale and on its grounds, by BGE gas light engineers and historians.
On Wednesday, August 15, members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) brass and percussion sections will perform a free outdoor send-off concert at the War Memorial Plaza ahead of the BSO’s international tour of Ireland and the United Kingdom. Baltimore City Mayor Catherine E. Pugh welcomes BSO Associate Conductor Nicholas Hersh and the BSO at 5 p.m. to kick-off the performance, which takes place on the War Memorial Plaza.
