Baltimoreans celebrated atop Federal Hill when we ratified the U.S. Constitution. We used it to defend the city from the British in the War of 1812 and to make sure we stayed in the Union in the Civil War. We have even tunnelled under it to quarry minerals. Join us on a tour of Federal Hill and the neighborhood around it to learn about this waterfront community’s rich history, including stops at one of the last wooden houses in the city, the oldest house in Federal Hill, and the wonderful alley houses along Churchill Street.
Join us at Gallery 1448 in the garden at the reception for "A Celebration of Spring". Participating artists are Claudia Bismark, Lauren Case, Greg Fletcher, Jennifer Hogan, and Leslie Schwing. The show runs from May 8 - June 13. Gallery hours are by appointment.
During the reception, a plaque will be installed commemorating William Leizman's kinetic sculpture located in the garden. Leizman (1926 - 2011) was an outsider artist and found object sculptor.
In this workshop, you will:
Learn how to use library resources to find your property (or others) on historic maps & legality.
Learn how to searching for items in the field. Ask these questions: What am I looking for? Clues?
The workshop will end with a public Q&A.
Hosted by Evan Woodard, the Baltimore, Maryland based explorer, photographer, and amateur historian behind Salvage Arc. Join him on his hunt for lost relics as he searches for forgotten 18th to 20th-century homesteads, rubbish dumps, and privies.
