Blue Cavell-Allette, Desi Rawlerson, and Tashika Campbell are your hosts and producers, and your party MCs - there will be music, jokes, comedy games, interviews, sitcom tropes, audience participation, and non-stop laughs. Formed in 2018, Gilsons continue the musical legacy of their father and grandfather, Gilberto Gil, a leading artist in the Tropicália movement of 1960s Brazil. Gilsons is the musical partnership of Francisco, João, and José Gil, a leading band of the new Brazilian popular music (MPB), blending influences of pop rock, samba, reggae, and Bahian rhythms alongside the sounds of classic MPB.
To mark the culmination of Common Ground on the Hill’s Traditions Week, this all-day festival features traditional arts, crafts, music, and dance, plus kid-friendly activities, food vendors, and a wine and beer garden. Three-time Grammy winner Tom Chapin is the recipient of the Robert H. Chambers Award for Excellence in the Traditional Arts.

Musical instruments have helped us communicate and express ourselves since the beginning of human culture. Learning about the musical instruments of the ancient Americas and building and playing our own instruments helps us to awaken the memory of our connection to nature, cultivate presence through the working with clay, and experience joy through sound and music-making. In this hands-on workshop we will learn about musical instruments that have been made across Central and South America for thousands of years and learn to build our own working clay flutes.
Join us for Voyages: Chapter 5 and explore Aquarium exhibits as you consider interconnectedness and humanity’s relationship to the web of life through an interactive, multi-media installation from the mind of local artist Schaun Champion, with performance support from WombWork Productions.
