Like so many girls her age, little Dorothy Gale of Kansas dreams of what lies over the rainbow. One day a twister hits her farm and carries her away over the rainbow to another world. Come join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and Toto as they travel the universe of Dorothy’s imagination.
Maryland’s largest producers-only market offers an assortment of produce, meats, dairy, breads, flowers, collectibles and crafts on Sundays between April 5 and December 20 from 7am to sell out (typically noon). Many Sundays also feature live music performances and cooking demonstrations. The market is located below the Jones Falls Expressway at Holliday & Saratoga streets. Explore the complex collaborative process between William Walters and sculptor William Henry Rinehart.
EMP Resident artists Noelle Tolbert, Alexander D’Agostino, and Porter Witsell form NAP, a performance trio investigating the intersections of dance, body movement, and performance art. Every Sunday, NAP will conduct open classes of Movement Research at EMP from 5:30 – 7:30PM. Classes are $5 each.

Students explore a variety of metals techniques within the context of botanical forms. Surface treatments such as reticulation, chasing and repousse, and special flex shaft techniques serve to enhance the forms students explore. Direct molding, wax impressions, electroforming, and incorporating found objects will also be investigated. Students produce multiple samples as well as one finished project for the course.

Students in this 4-week course will re-boot their creative juices through a series of short exercises and projects, focusing on the expressive and spatial aspects of line, shape, plane, color, texture, mass, and volume in relation to jewelry work. Using a variety of alternative materials, students explore direct and experimental processes of jewelry making and address the unique interaction of sculptural form and the wearer.

This class is designed for the beginning jewelry student who wants an introduction to jewelry making. Students become acquainted with the jewelry studio and basic techniques that are utilized in designing and creating jewelry. Students make a finished piece of wearable jewelry and are prepared to continue into the Intro to Metals + Jewelry class where more advanced jewelry making skills are covered.

The event will feature Mapping Baybrook, a media-based documentation of projects in Brooklyn-Curtis Bay and a film screening of Mill Stories: Remembering Sparrows Point Steel Mill. Members of the Sparrows Point and Brooklyn-Curtis Bay communities will also discuss the challenges they face and possible futures.

The 130th annual exhibition sponsored by the Baltimore Watercolor Society, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Exhibition is the most competitive juried watercolor exhibit in the region, presenting artwork from local artists within a 200 mile radius, including Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, DC.

Students explore the ancient techniques of chain making from start to finish. The process includes fusing and forming fine silver and/or high karat gold into links and weaving a variety of chain styles including loop in loop, sailors, strap, and tapered combinations. Appropriate clasps and terminations also covered.
Prerequisite: Intro to Metals + Jewelry or equivalent experience.
$250 + $25 materials fee

This class familiarizes the beginning student with the basic tools of the jewelry studio. Through demonstrations slide presentations, group critique, and design work, students will gain confidence in their skills and will emerge from the course with 2 finished jewelry pieces and a greater understanding of the breadth of contemporary jewelry.

Celebrate the best of Broadway with three of musical theatre’s award-winning leading men, in an enchanting evening of soaring melodies as they recreate the roles they have played on Broadway and on stages all over the world. During this fully staged and choreographed theatrical show, the Tenors will transport audiences from the Golden Age of musical theatre to modern-day Manhattan in a thrilling and moving performance of Broadway’s most beloved hits.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Edward A. Myerberg Center’s programs and services for older adults in Baltimore.
