ABOUT THE ALBUM: “Simon Says” marks tenor saxophonist Simon Mogul’s debut as a bandleader: a straight-ahead, big-sound jazz record shaped by bandstand trust and first-take energy. Produced by Curtis Lundy, the nine-track album features Jeremy Pelt (trumpet), Tyler Bullock and William Hill III (piano), Rodney Green (drums), with Eric Kennedy appearing on three tracks. Recorded without rehearsal, the session followed the spirit of classic Blue Note and Prestige dates—tempos, forms, and dynamics decided in the room and preserved as they happened.

Rooted in the tenor lineage of Johnny Griffin, Gene Ammons, Booker Ervin, and Sonny Rollins, Mogul brings weight, authority, and momentum to original compositions shaped by Lundy’s understated but decisive guidance. Simon Says will be released on February 20th, 2026, supported by a South Arts Jazz Road Tours grant, with a national tour and an album-release performance at Smalls (NYC) on March 10.
