Pro Musica Rara presents The Musical Life of Thomas Jefferson

Join us on Sunday 21 September at 3:30 pm when Pro Musica Rara presents The Musical Life of Thomas Jefferson. The concert will take place at Grace United Methodist Church, 5407 N Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21210. Free parking and handicapped accessible.
This program of music from Thomas Jefferson’s library is directed by Christoph Hammer, one of the most distinguished and versatile musicians in the field of early music today. The concert features Christoph Hammer, harpsichord, and Rufus Müller, tenor; with Cynthia Roberts, violin; and Phoebe Carrai, cello.
Jefferson avidly played the violin accompanied by his wife and two daughters on the piano and harpsichord. He is quoted as saying: “music is the favorite passion of my soul.” The selections on today’s program primarily come from composers represented in the Jefferson family music library, including pieces that Thomas Jefferson himself may have played or at least owned copies of the published scores.
Pro Musica Rara, Baltimore's “premier early music ensemble”, is a period instrument chamber music ensemble performing baroque, classical, and early romantic repertoire. There will be a pre-concert presentation at 2:30.
