In the formative Highschool years, John thrived in the art department at Mount Saint Joseph High school under the tutelage of Ken Pittman. The college years followed with a great foundation program at Virgina Commonwealth University and later majoring in Painting and printmaking where he sold his first large format oil painting in the bohemian fan district of Richmond. Further college studies in art continued at Maryland Institute of art back home in Baltimore Maryland for a few semesters learning more about illustration, Photography and sculpture. Interestingly enough this is where a class in astronomy entered the picture. Rounding out the college experience John finished up at UMBC with a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design.
