Music educator Brendan Slocumb will discuss his debut novel that follows Ray McMillian, a young Black man from rural North Carolina, who is focused on becoming a world-renowned professional violinist. Ray’s journey leads him to the vaunted Tchaikovsky Competition, where on the day prior to his performance his family violin is stolen and placed under ransom. The musician must not only rescue his violin but also prepare himself for the most significant performance of his young career.

Music at Black Cherry presents Classical Guitarist Jeremy Lyons
On Thursday, October 27, 2022, Jeremy Lyons will give a solo classical guitar recital at Black Cherry Puppet Theater. The performance will include works by Takemitsu, Silva, and Krauthamer.
Black Cherry’s Michael Lamason will accompany the music with an original visual display of light and shadow. The concert will begin at 8pm with popcorn and beverages available for purchase. (Doors open at 7:30pm)*

Mando for Kids promotes and teaches classical mandolin to young students in the Baltimore area - it’s the only program of its kind in the United States! It was started by a group within the Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra and continues under the direction of Laura Norris, a Classical Mandolin Society fellow, member of the Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra and Baltimore Mandolin Quartet.
The Baltimore Improv Group has improv comedy shows every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7, 8 & 9 p.m. All Thursday shows are free. Friday and Saturday shows are $10.
Improv comedy shows are made up entirely on the spot using audience suggestions! No two shows are alike!
