BALTIMORE, MD – February 2019 – NonToxic Masculinity will take place at the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Museum, 1417 Thames Street, Baltimore, MD 21231. The exhibition runs from February 7th until March 30th with an opening reception on February 7th from 6:00-8:00pm. The mission of NonToxic Masculinity is to provide a premier exhibition experience for the diverse communities of Baltimore and beyond… an exhibition that presents some of the most exceptional contemporary artwork of our time.
The Arena Players Gallery & Exhibition Space, 801 McCulloh Street, is now showing its latest exhibition, Storypiece: Documentary Story Quilts of Dr. Joan M. E. Gaither. This collection spans from Dr. Gaither's personal mentors to Baltimore history and icons from the wider Maryland African American community. The exhibition is FREE and open to the public through February 28th, 2019. Gallery hours Thursday/ Friday 4pm-7pm; Saturday 12-6pm; Sunday 12-4pm. Mando for Kids promotes and teaches classical mandolin to young students in the Baltimore area - it’s the only program of its kind in the United States! It was started by a group within the Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra and continues under the direction of Laura Norris, a Classical Mandolin Society fellow, member of the Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra and Baltimore Mandolin Quartet.
