Johan Lowie- Terrain of Memory

Terrain of Memory brings together a series of landscapes that explore the subtle intersection between place and recollection. Rather than documenting specific sites, these works investigate how memory reshapes terrain—softening edges, heightening light, and compressing time. The land becomes both subject and vessel: layered, weathered, and quietly transformative. Atmosphere plays a central role. Shifts in color, horizon, and spatial depth suggest moments suspended between observation and remembrance. Familiar vistas dissolve into experiential fields, inviting viewers to navigate their own internal geographies. Presented at the Horowitz Center, this exhibition considers landscape not only as physical environment, but as an evolving archive—where perception, memory, and emotion converge.
Public reception: June 18, 6:00 pm
