Join the masterful duo of saxophonist Carl Cornwell and pianist Bob Butta for an unforgettable evening of Jazz at An die Musik Live!

Bob and Carl shared the bandstand for over 15 years as members of Project Natale, recording two albums and making hundreds of appearances with that band around the DMV and beyond Several months before bandleader Joseph Natale’s death, Bob and Carl found themselves alone on the bandstand when Joe had to cancel at the last minute due to his developing illness. Since they were already set up, they decided to do the gig as a duo playing a mix of tunes from the American Songbook and the post-bop standards that they rarely got to play with Project Natale. Unfortunately, the onset of the pandemic thwarted their plans to continue exploring the intimate spontaneity of the duo format after a second performance in March 2019. After music venues started opening post-pandemic, they made several appearances together as members of various small ensembles (including a series of three live-streamed performances at An die Musik), but this will be the first time they reconvene to recreate the magic of their impromptu duo performance.
