Joy!
Children's Chorus of Maryland self-produces Annual Concerts twice a year—in winter and in spring. These well-attended performances showcase all choirs in our Conservatory program.
Oftentimes, we associate the word “joy” with celebration and good cheer, focusing on outward expressions of happiness and engagement in lively festivities. But, joy is also sometimes found in quietness and reflection. And, beyond the enchantment of tinsel, candles, and shimmering snow, there is great joy in our connection, our community, with each other. Joy is entwined inextricably with hope and love.
Our musical selections are celebratory in nature. We will share unique arrangements of holiday folksongs and carols from different countries and cultures as well as lively songs about fun wintertime activities. Other selections are quiet and reflective, contemplating the peace and stillness in winter “when silence is deep and blue.” Other songs focus on our deep connection with each other and the light – the joy – that connection brings to our lives.
