Flag Day Artist Talks

Flag Day Artist Talks

This Flag Day, join exhibition curator Alexander Jarman as he moderates a gallery talk with local artists that contributed to Waving and Wavering, including René Treviño, Hamida Khatri (Project KALI), Iqrama Muhammad, Ursula Populoh and members of FORCE: Upsetting Rape Culture. Seven decades after the official adoption of America's own Flag Day, learn how artists continue to harness the power of flags to re-interpret history.

Waving and Wavering is an exhibition that explores multiple interpretations of flags as both concept and format through three different perspectives: local examples of artists creating new flags for the city of Baltimore, new models of artists examining the American flag, and international samples of artists working with flags in contemporary ways. We are thrilled to unveil four new flags for Baltimore City created by local artists/groups: Ursula Populoh, Iqrama Muhammad, Project KALI and FORCE: Upsetting Rape Culture. Don't miss our artist talks June 14 from 7– 8 PM. We hope to see you there!
