Metropolitan opera mezzo soprano Theodora Hanslowe and pianist Mark Markham in concert - The Spire Series
Theodora Hanslowe and Mark Markham, both graduates of The Peabody Conservatory of Music, mark their return to Baltimore with a program featuring works by Handel, Strauss, Obradors, Gershwin, Porter and others. A Meet-the-Artists reception will follow the performance.
Internationally-acclaimed Theodora Hanslowe’s career has included starring roles at the Metropolitan Opera and other prestigious venues, in works of Mozart, Rossini, Gounod, Berlioz and others. Baltimore Opera audiences will recall her heartfelt Sister Helen Prejean in Jack Heggie’s Dead Man Walking. She is also a distinguished recitalist and has appeared with major symphony orchestras all over the world, including the BSO.
She is joined in this program by her frequent fellow-artist, pianist Mark Markham, whose distinguished achievements as a pianist include a long-time association with legendary soprano Jessye Norman, giving nearly 300 performances in over 25 countries. His recording with Jessye Norman of “Roots: My Life, My Song” was nominated for a Grammy.
A reception to meet the artists will follow the performance.
