'DEATH BY NUMBERS' Film Screening

Join us for the upcoming Baltimore screening of our Academy Award–nominated documentary short film, DEATH BY NUMBERS, followed by a special in-person talkback with director Kim Snyder, and protagonist and Parkland survivor, Sam Fuentes. Presented by the UMB Center for Violence Prevention in partnership with the Shock Trauma Center for Injury Prevention & Policy, the event will take place on Friday, January 30th at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

The film follows Sam Fuentes on her journey to reclaim her power, and process trauma through journaling. To prepare for a confrontation with her assailant in his harrowing sentencing trial, she examines complex questions of collective hatred, resilience, and community justice.

In 2025, DEATH BY NUMBERS was nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Best Documentary Short. Critics have recognized the film for “its poetic approach to trauma and healing, deliberately avoiding political rhetoric to focus on the human experience.”
