Electrified Spin Art & Bot Boxes

Electrified Spin Art & Bot Boxes

FutureMaker's is excited to return to Cecil County Public Library – Elkton Branch on November 1 for a maker day of electrified creatures!
From 10:30 to noon, explore elecrtric spin art! Build a simple spinning, art-making machine that optically blends colors using art materials and light!
From 1 to 2:30, it’s Bot Boxes! Invent a kinetic creature using a cardboard cube, motor, battery, and crazy craft materials.

Participants will develop an understanding of simple circuitry, and troubleshoot / improve their designs with the support of coaches. Parents will learn alongside their children, and we will share resources available in the branch for further exploration. Families and children will use conventional materials - cardboard, foam, and quality craft supplies - and combine them with motors, batteries, and LED's in circuits. Create simple switches, and learn how everyday materials can be made into extraordinary creations.

Both free workshops are for children ages 8-13; children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
