DURA MATER at the John Astin Theatre

The John Astin Theatre and the Johns Hopkins University Theatre Arts & Studies Program present John Pietrowski’s DURA MATER directed by James Glossman. This edgy, dark comedy-drama is a world premiere by award-winning playwright Pietrowski, whose work has been featured at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and across the United States.
Paul's kindergarten-teacher mom is in the hospital. Paul's mom is in the hospital because her husband of 35 years, the nicest, quietest man in the world, suddenly threw a glass tumbler at her during dinner one night. Performance Dates: Fridays & Saturdays, November 7, 8, 14 & 15 @ 8pm and Sundays, November 9 & 16 @ 2pm. This production contains adult themes and language. Half price tickets for 11/7 & 11/8 performances only.

Patrons who present their South Garage parking stub to the John Astin Theatre box office will receive $2 off on one ticket. Half price tickets across the board for Friday, 11/7, & Sat, 11/8, 8pm performances only. Venue: The John Astin Theatre is located in the historic Merrick Barn on the eastside of the Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus at 3400 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21218. The Barn is located between the Brody Learning Center and the Mattin Center. The lobby doors open one hour prior to curtain and seating is approximately 10-15 minutes prior to curtain call. Passengers may be dropped off in front of the Barn or behind the Barn in front of the Milton S. Eisenhower Library at the top of the circle off Charles Street, please allow adequate time to drop off passengers and find parking. The theatre is NOT accessible by persons using wheelchairs, but can accommodate two wheelchairs per show with advanced notice. There are three ascending exterior steps to the lobby and a flight of stairs to the second floor theatre. Please contact the box office at least 48 hours in advance at [email protected] or call 410-516-5153 and leave a message to arrange a wheelchair seating and information on the alternative theatre entrance.
Parking Information: Visitor paid parking is available on the south side of campus in the South Garage, 3101 Wyman Park Drive, Baltimore, MD 21218, as well as on surrounding off campus streets. Driving directions to the South Garage: Enter 3100 Wyman Park, Baltimore, MD 21211 into vehicle GPS or mapping application. This will bring you to the Wyman Park Building. The South Garage is across the street from the Wyman Park Building just past Mason Hall. Please allow adequate time for parking in the Hopkins Homewood South Garage or on surrounding off campus streets. First come, first serve, while tickets are available, no codes, coupons or password word necessary to purchase half price tickets. Box office accepts only cash or check payable to the Johns Hopkins University Theatre.
