Hailed as a "musical prodigy turned evil genius" (spinner) bassist Michael Feinberg has quickly "become one of the premier young artists on the New York scene" (Jazz Inside Magazine). Raised in Atlanta, Ga. Feinberg began his music career on the bandstand as a member of Grammy nominated trumpeter Russell Gunn’s quartet, performing every week at Churchill Grounds, a notable jazz club in downtown Atlanta.
Since relocating to New York in 2009, with a stop over at the University of Miami, Feinberg has been seen and heard with legends and luminaries alike from "young bloods" Ambrose Akinmusire, Dayna Stepehens, Leo Genovese, and Jon Batiste to established vets like Ari Hoenig, Eric Lewis, Peter Bernstein, George Garzone, and Myron Walden to jazz masters like Curtis Fuller, Dave Liebman, and Billy Hart.
Michael's latest project "From Where They Came" featuring Dave Liebmanwill be released on Steeplechase records in 2020 and his group will be perfoming those selections as well as others from his previous recordings "Whatever Possessed Me" and "The Elvin Jones Project." Joining him at the Jazz Forum are his long time trio of Ian Froman and Noah Preminger, and piano virtuoso Benito Gonzalez.
