Columbia Orchestra: Chamber Cocnert
This exuberant mix of the familiar and the new closes out our chamber series with a flourish! Bach's Six Brandenburg Concertos are widely considered among the greatest pieces of the Baroque era and his 6th is no exception, and Dvořak's Wind Serenade is a unique gem of the Romantic Era.
American events and people inspire the music of Michael Daugherty, and his string quartet, Elvis is Everywhere, asks the tongue-in-cheek question, "Is Elvis still alive?" 16th-century Hindu poet Mirabai's work explores the themes of women - and indeed everyone - having the freedom to follow their own path. Leah Inger joins us for Harbison's Mirabi Songs which Jason Love calls "one of my very favorite pieces."
This concert is FREE admission; no tickets are required. The concert will last just over one and a half hours including intermission.
