From Rag Time to Big Band Swing to the Hot Jazz of 30's Paris, Tongue in Cheek is paving the way for Neo-Traditional American Jazz Music.
The Jenny Wilson Trio will perform classic jazz with a modern twist at Germano's Piattini in Baltimore's historic Little Italy. The trio is a unique ensemble in that they are a family. Mother Jenny is the centerpiece of the group with her husband, bassist Nathan Wilson and her son, drummer Evan Lintz accompanying her jazz piano inventions and her warm and vocals. Her singing is often compared to that of Diana Krall who she counts as an important influence on her vocal style.

Come with Cold Spring Jazz Quartet as they take a dynamic journey through the history of jazz. Tap your feet to the swing of Duke Ellington. Snap your fingers to bebop classics by Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Thelonious Monk. Groove to the hard bop music of Horace Silver and Charles Mingus. Take a trip to South America and relax with bossa nova, then swing your hips to some samba. Get moody with modal jazz by John Coltrane and Miles Davis. And then get up and shake your booty to some funk.
Guitarist Nate Najar is emerging as one of this decade’s finest modern jazz exponents. He is a player who uses a distinctive technique to convey his artistic prowess- not
many artists play acoustic classical guitar with right hand classical technique, yet it is the perfect choice for Najar’s comprehensive approach. Not restricted to single notes
or chords, Nate seamlessly weaves melody, harmony and rhythmic freedom. The result is music that is swinging, emotional, inventive and interesting. Continuing to perform at
Long-time pianist for Rumba Club, Tim Murphy, and his trio team with singer PaulTeie for an international journey of the jazz world. Beginning at home, you will enjoy fresh versions of jazz standards. Then a quick trip across the pond will land us in France, where you will relish the lush Gallic ballads of Michel LeGrand. Then on to the beaches of Rio, where you will sway to the sambas of Antonio Carlos Jobim, before returning home where you will experience new standards by such innovative contemporary voices as Elvis Costello and Sting.
The Afro House sound, which we call 25th Century Music, is rooted in the compositions Scott Patterson wrote after returning from a two month solo trek in the mountains, it is the music that was inspired by a dramatic shift in his life that involved becoming a husband and father in a new city, and the wisps of melodies in his head that eventually reach for a lyric. From the outer most reaches of the cosmos to the mountain tops, Afro House presents Afro House Concert No.9.

Join us every third Wednesday at the Cabaret at Germano's for Baltimore's Best Open Mic Night. Dinner is served beginning at 6:00. Sign-up is at 7:00 and the performance begins at 7:30. Adam Swanson is one of the world’s foremost performers of vintage American popular music, including ragtime, early jazz, the Great American Songbook, and more. He holds a bachelor’s in classical piano and a master’s in musicology from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. Although he is only twenty-six years old, Adam has been a featured performer and lecturer at ragtime and jazz festivals across the United States, and he is the only four-time winner of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest.

Becky and Michael take on delectable duets all about the state of affairs- the good, the bad, and the ugly as they sing through some of their favorite musical theatre pieces that weave stories about how imperfect relationships can be.

Enjoy themed food and drink, carnivalesque entertainment, and silent auction while celebrating the inauguration of BSF’s one-of-a-kind early modern stage in the heart of Hampden. Guests are encouraged to dress in black tie or their Elizabethan finest. Gala: 7-10pm; Afterparty and Bawdy Good Fun: 9pm-Midnight. Proceeds to benefit BSF’s ongoing programs in Baltimore City.
Traveling from their home in Southern California, Jack & the Vox return to Baltimore for one night, on their way to the CT Ukulele Festival and then Europe! The husband-wife-duo, met at the Berklee College of Music in 1998 (where they both studied Songwriting), but only recently married in 2016. Victoria Vox, who was a Baltimore resident for 11 years, is an award-winning songwriter known for toting her ukulele around the world at festivals, clubs, and performing house concerts. Jack has childhood roots to St. Louis, but grew up in California since a young teen.

The Baltimore Improv Group has improv comedy shows every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7, 8 & 9 p.m. All Thursday shows are free. Friday and Saturday shows are $10.
