Shriver Hall Concert Series presents pianist Daniil Trifonov. Described by The New York Times as “one of the most awesome pianists of our time,” Daniil Trifonov’s consummate technique combines with rare sensitivity and depth. The 2019 Grammy winner’s two previous SHCS performances were sold-out sensations. He returns to Shriver Hall Concert Series with the world premiere of a recital pre-recorded at New York’s 92nd Street Y featuring works by Szymanowski, Debussy, and Brahms.

German Expressionism: German Art in the 20th Century: Bearing Witness: Max Beckmann and the Fate of the Avant-Garde (lecture 5 of 5) with Aneta Georgievska-Shine, professor of art history, University of Maryland
In the final lecture of the series we will look more closely at Max Beckmann as a painter of complex, and deeply personal allegories concerning his cultural and artistic identity – from his works inspired by WWI, to those he created at the very end of his life, following his self-imposed exile to America.
Vocalists Dyana Neal and Jim Knost with pianist Robert Hitz
Dyana Neal has appeared in concerts, plays, musicals, and operas throughout the Baltimore-Washington area. Favorite roles include Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate, Lady Macbeth, Pitti-Sing in the Mikado, Sympathy the Learned in The Arabian Nights, Anne Boleyn in Royal Gambit, and The Fairy Queen in Iolanthe. She was a member of the Baltimore Opera Chorus from 2002-2009. Ms. Neal is perhaps best known as the midday host at WBJC-FM, a position she has held since 1993.
The UMBC Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Matt Belzer will be joined by master saxophonist Charlie Young in a celebration of the centenary of composer Charlie Parker (1920–1955). The Jazz Ensemble has prepared selections that were remotely recorded in 2021 by director of recording Alan Wonneberger and music technical coordinator Sarah Baugher.

TKQ presents Message Music: A History of Music from a Jazz Perspective
The Terry Koger Quintet honors Black History Month by performing many styles throughout American History. The songs performed will be songs of reflection, power, protest, joy, hope, truth and dignity. The selections will cover music from the late 1800s to the present with well-known songs to lesser-known songs and original compositions.
