Why did punk—a subculture and music style characterized by a rejection of established norms—appeal to Jews? How did Jews who were genuinely struggling with their Jewish identity find ways to express it through punk rock?
Michael Croland will give a multimedia presentation based on his book, Oy Oy Oy Gevalt! Jews and Punk. Na Nach Oi! (featuring Yishai Romanoff of Moshiach Oi!) will perform acoustic renditions of Jewish punk songs.

Part of our 2018 Salon Series—cocktails, conversation, and staged readings of plays by women playwrights, curated and directed by the women of Everyman Theatre’s Resident Acting Company. Is it better to live at war or die at peace? In Dead and Breathing, cantankerous Caroline Whitlock has been dying for two years already—and she’s sick of it. If her mouthy new hospice nurse kills her, maybe each can get what she wants! Together, two women are forced to confront life’s (and death's) most difficult questions in this fast-paced, heart-tugging comedy.

The centerpiece of the exhibition is the artist’s monumental installation, Birth of a Nation (2014), which represents the abstracted figure of a black woman nursing a white infant against the backdrop of the first official flag of the United States. Suspended above a mound of earth, the quilt is surrounded by Towns’ ongoing Story Quilts series (2016–), a cycle of seven works in luminous fabrics and glass beads that narrate the life of Nat Turner and his 1831 rebellion.
