Ledah Finck will share a solo set of traditional, original, and contemporary Celtic tunes. Growing up in the mountains of North Carolina, she has been performing on fiddle since the age of 8. An alumna of the Peabody Conservatory as of 2018, she now lives in New York City where she is active with her string quartet, the Bergamot Quartet.

UMBC's Center for Innovation, Research and Creativity in the Arts (CIRCA) presents Marnie Ellen Hertzler and Corey Hughes. Hertzler is a video artist, animator and filmmaker working in experimental narrative and hybrid documentary; Hughes is director and cinematographer traversing narrative, documentary and experimental realms. The two will discuss their individual work as well as their director-cinematographer collaborations.

Russian-born poet Ilya Kaminsky, hard of hearing since the age of four, is the author of Deaf Republic, a 2019 National Book Award finalist. Garth Greenwell wrote “Deaf Republic is a dramatic masterwork, a parable-in-poems that confronts the darkness of war and terror with the blazing light of ‘a poet in love with the world.’ ” The BBC selected Kaminsky as “one of the 12 artists that changed the world” in 2019.
The 2021 Howard Community College Dance Company Concert will feature student dancers performing the work of faculty and guest choreographers. Directed by Elizabeth Higgins, the production includes the choreography of Elizabeth Higgins, Alex Krebs, Darion Smith, and Vincent Thomas. This virtual concert integrates innovative movement and design, as experienced through the art of dance for the camera.

McDaniel College students perform in the radio play “Twisted Tales of Poe,” which is based on the stories and poems of Edgar Allan Poe. Directed by theatre arts faculty member Gené Fouché, the performance will be broadcast on McDaniel College’s student-run radio station, Green Terror Radio (WGTR), on Friday, April 30 and Thursday, May 6 at 7 p.m. The broadcast may be accessed at mgtradiostation.wordpress.com.
The Howard Community College (HCC) film program launched a film discussion series this spring. The series operates much like a book club. Participants choose the films that interest them from the schedule and watch the films at their convenience before the scheduled discussion. Offered virtually, the discussion series takes advantage of film titles available on popular streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime and Netflix. The 7 p.m.
