Mount Vernon began as a country estate for Revolutionary War hero John Eager Howard and grew to be the place to live for Baltimore's rich and famous in the mid-nineteenth century. The Garrett family, owners of the B&O Railroad, the Walters, founders of the Walters Art Museum, and the Thomases, owners of Mercantile Bank, are among the families that built handsome mansions along the four parks that surround the Washington Monument.
Benedicts and Bubbles.
You can’t have breakfast in bed, at a restaurant. True story. Lazy Sundays and leaving the house don’t always mix, but sometimes you just want that hollandaise sauce. In this class you’ll learn how to prepare all your favorite, classic brunch fare – from elegant eggs to English muffins made from scratch – in the comfort of your own home. With a side of bubbles, of course.
A multi instrumentalist (piano, guitar, cornet) Craig Gildner started playing guitar in 1979 and has led several successful larger swing era groups here in D.C since 1999. Recently he’s focused on the demanding yet satisfying chord melody guitar style of the late 40’s and 50’s. In September 2017 at the encouragement of fellow guitarist John Pizzarelli, he began playing 7 string archtop guitar and fascinated by the possibilities of the instrument, hasn’t looked back. His approach evokes greats such as George Van Eps, Barney Kessel, Tal Farlow and Wes Montgomery.

A heroic warrior, Solor, who returns home from a recent conquest, is in love with Nikiya, a famous Indian temple dancer. The Ruler of the land offers Solor the hand of his beautiful daughter, Gamzatti, and Solor is unable to refuse. Gamzatti learns of Solor’s affection for Nikiya, and she sends her a flower basket containing a poisonous snake. The snake bites Nikiya, and kills her. In this scene, Solor dreams of following Nikiya’s shadow (La Bayadère) to the Kingdom of Shades where they reunite one last time.
