Lakmé
After last season’s success with Les Pêcheurs de Perles, BCO returns to the French repertoire. Lakmé features what may be the most well-known female duet in the operatic literature, the beautiful “Flower Duet.” Set in British-occupied India in the late 19th century, Lakmé is the story of a British soldier who falls in love with the beautiful daughter of the local Brahmin high priest. Despite her warnings that he should forget he ever saw her, they continue to pursue their love, resulting in tragedy to them both.

This nephew to Linda Ronstadt is also a much in-demand studio musician, having appeared on more than 50 albums in the last 12 years with his “amazing command of the typical and exotic sounds of the cello, a true virtuoso and a man of instinctive musicality," says The Tuscon Citizen.

CARNIVALE AT THE CABARET WITH KINGS OF CROWNSVILLE
Annapolis-based act Kings of Crownsville are a roots Rock band with a New Orleans flavor. The brainchild of New Orleans-raised guitarist/singer/songwriter Steve Johnson, the Kings play a rollicking, entertaining set that stirs Americana, Blues, and Jazz into the mix. Johnson's original songs are destined to become classics.
Their signature horn section transports listeners to the streets of the Big Easy, while they also add precise three- and four-part harmonies to their musical gumbo. Think Louis Armstrong meets Steely Dan.
